When the Braves called Forrest Wall up from AAA to the Bigs, the main point of emphasis was how fast he was. His ability as a pinch runner could win you a lot of close games, and it has. What folks did not mention was his skill with the bat.

I know it is a small sample size, but in 15 games, Wall is batting 6-for-13. That's a .462 batting average with a homer and two RBI. He has also stolen five bases in that short stint. If you are a bench player who is trying to make the postseason roster for a team hoping to win the World Series, this is the kind of production that you need to have.

Wall got to start for the Braves last night against the Nationals and he looked good. He finished the night 3-for-5 with two strikeouts and a stolen base. If he keeps playing the way he is right now, he may get rid of No. 73 and get an actual number instead.

Wall was having a great season in AAA at Gwinett prior to being called up. He had a .280 batting average with eight homers, 43 RBI, and 52 stolen bases. In his 10th year of pro baseball, it seems as though Wall is coming into his own and getting into a groove. I think he will be able to provide a spark off of the bench for the Braves in the postseason. Not in the power department like Joc Pederson, but on the bases wreaking havoc.
