Francisco Lindor, Steve Cohen talked extension over dinner on Saturday?

The New York Mets and Francisco Lindor are hoping to get an extension done prior to Opening Day against the Washington Nationals on Thursday. It appears the two sides might be making some progress, too.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Lindor and Mets owner Steve Cohen had dinner on Saturday night, presumably to discuss contract details:

The Mets are reportedly willing to go as high as $300 million to keep the All-Star shortstop in town. It's unclear how much he's seeking in a new deal.

The 27-year-old is having a great spring with the Mets, slashing .388/.444/.653 with four home runs and 14 RBI in 15 games.

New York also has to finalize an extension with outfielder Michael Conforto and star pitcher Noah Syndergaard, among others. However, those deals don't have an April 1 "deadline."
