It sounds like it's a bad idea to try keeping up during a workout with San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler. John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler might be the fittest manager in Major League Baseball. The 45-year-old is famously enthusiastic about weightlifting, and even some of his own players cannot stack up.

Giants infielder Mauricio Dubon certainly can’t. Dubon admitted he’d tried to lift with Kapler last season, but it had not gone well for him.

“We tried that last year. It didn’t go well,” Dubon told MLB Network, via Angelina Martin of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I was sore for a couple of days, but he got me on that one.

“He’s a strong guy. The most impressive thing I saw, last year I think it was, I came in at 6:30 [a.m.] for lift and he was lifting, I think, 315 for reps in jeans and boots. So I was like, nah. I’m not going there.”

Dubon can be forgiven for failing to hit those numbers. Not everyone is quite as dedicated to their fitness as Kapler is, so the loss in the head-to-head battle is forgivable. The Giants manager could probably even go head-to-head with this guy if he wanted to.
