The Cleveland Guardians are on the right track as they try to secure an AL Central title.

Entering yesterday’s makeup game against the Chicago White Sox, they led the Central by four games over the South Siders and five over the Minnesota Twins.

The Guardians unfortunately lost yesterday and watched each of their pursuers gain a game on them.

Yesterday’s loss was a pretty one-sided affair, with the White Sox rolling to an 8-2 win.

But Guardians fans need not worry.

Despite the lead in the AL Central being cut back down to three games, the Guardians still have 73.3% chance at reaching the playoffs, according to FanGraphs.

Guardians Still In Command

Fans in Cleveland who were freaking out about yesterday’s loss can take a breather.

The Guardians are still in a very good position and have the inside track in the AL Central.

They remain in first place by three games and own a 76-66 record.

They’ve also won eight of their last 10 games, and even though the White Sox are hot, and the Twins have strung together a couple of wins, the division looks to be theirs for the taking.

A big series kicks off this weekend against the Twins.

This is the perfect opportunity for the Guardians to put them in the rearview mirror.

As for the White Sox, the Guardians will get another chance against them next week, which presents another solid opportunity to establish themselves as the team to beat in the AL Central.

We’ll see what comes out of this next stretch of games.

The Guardians are still in good shape and have a very good chance to win the AL Central and return to October for the fifth time in the past seven years.
