The Cleveland Guardians made a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers late on Wednesday.

Utility infielder Owen Miller was sent to Milwaukee in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

The 26-year-old hit .243 with six home runs and 51 RBI in 424 at-bats with Cleveland during the regular season.

Miller is a Milwaukee area native and will be enjoying a homecoming of sorts with the Brew Crew, who finished the regular season with a record of 86-76, falling just short of the postseason.

The utilityman attended college at Illinois State University.

The news was first reported on Twitter, by ESPN’s top MLB insider Jeff Passan.

Miller Gets A Fresh Start

With cash considerations potentially coming back to the Guardians, the team may have a little extra money to spend on a free agent.

Cleveland recently signed Josh Bell and Mike Zunino to short-term deals.

Miller primarily played first base during his time with the Guardians.

With both Bell and Josh Naylor on the roster, Miller found himself blocked by the two stars.

Now, he’ll enjoy a fresh start in Milwaukee with the Brewers.

The Guardians do still have utility infielder Tyler Freeman as an internal option to potentially replace Miller.

Gabriel Arias, Brayan Rocchio, and Jose Tena are other options that the Guardians could potentially choose from.

To make room for Miller on their 40-man roster, the Brewers designated former top catching prospect Mario Feliciano for assignment.

This comes just mere days after the team acquired catcher William Contreras from the Atlanta Braves.
