The Halos hunted for pitching this offseason and landed lefty Tyler Anderson from their LA counterparts after an incredible 2022 campaign. Anderson had a fantastic season with the Dodgers setting a career-high in wins, ERA, and innings pitched.

And now, he will try to do the same with your Angels. However, he will carry a much more significant role with the Halos and is doing his diligence. Halos skipper Phil Nevin spoke with OC Registers J.P. Hoornstra, praising Anderson's leadership and relationship with his teammates.

“One thing about him is his leadership qualities to our other young lefties out there,” Nevin said. “He’s great by example for one, but he also kind of has just taken those guys under his wing, if you will. It’s about preparation, what he does leading up to his start. You can already see it. They all have been bonding together, they’ve been working together. If you notice when they come in from the bullpen, all the starters are together. I really like what that group is becoming. And he’s a big part of that. He’s kind of the leader of that pack.”

The 33-year-old has been around the block for a while now and has had his fair share of highs and lows in the league. He's making a great impression with the Halos thus far, having a 2-0 record with a 1.35 ERA and nine strikeouts in 13 innings and three games.

The Angels will need the arm and leadership throughout the 2023 season if they want any chance at sniffing the postseason. Spring training has been excellent for the Halos, but it's time to translate that to the regular season.
