The Houston Astros saw their season come to an end on Monday night, falling in Game 7 of the ALCS to the Texas Rangers.

With the loss, the Astros have failed to advance to the World Series. They were seeking their third consecutive appearance in the Fall Classic and their second straight title.

Despite the loss, Astros' slugger Yordan Alvarez had an incredible series, making some unique playoff baseball history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Yordan Alvarez has 6 straight multi-hit games

that’s the longest streak all-time in a single postseason

He went 3-for-4 in the loss with an RBI.

Simply put, Alvarez has become one of, if not the, most feared hitters in all of baseball. He hit .465 in these playoffs over 43 at-bats, connecting on six home runs and bringing in 15.

Lifetime, he's a .295 playoff hitter with 12 homers and 41 RBI. He nearly single-handedly lifted the Astros to the title in 2022, hitting two huge home runs in the ALDS against the Seattle Mariners and a massive home run in the World Series against the Phillies.

This regular season, Alvarez dealt with an oblique injury, but still hit .293 with 31 homers and 97 RBI. He posted a .990 OPS over 410 at-bats.

Still just 26 years old, Alvarez figures to be a mainstay in the Astros lineup for years to come and should be able to help them stay in prominent positions to win titles.

They do enter 2024 with questions, namely about who their manager will be. Reports have indicated that Dusty Baker is preparing to step down, but nothing is official yet.
