Major League Baseball announced that it will commemorate Memorial Day on with several tributes both on and off the field throughout the May 29 holiday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and all teams will observe the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time. Pregame workouts and games will be temporarily paused at this time, and teams that play outside of that window will hold a brief moment of silence prior to the U.S. national anthem.

The special nationwide effort was created to recognize the importance of remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States, provide an opportunity to offer a unified expression of gratitude, and help younger Americans understand the significance of Memorial Day.

Furthermore, all on-field MLB personnel will wear symbolic, memorial uniform elements during workouts and games. The traditional memorial red poppy will be displayed on the left side of jerseys with “Lest We Forget” language included.

MLB is donating 100% of its licensed royalties from the sales of Armed Forces Day caps to a variety of military-connected charities, including Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS).

Later this summer, youth from TAPS families will once again participate in a clinic on the showcase diamond at Play Ball Park during 2023 MLB All-Star Week in Seattle.

Play Ball Park is an interactive baseball experience that will be open for four days in the host city as part of MLB’s All-Star festivities.

Dodgers, MLB teams wore special caps for Armed Forces Day

The Dodgers and all other teams wore a commemorative cap and matching accessories for games played May 19-21, 2023, as part of MLB demonstrating its collective support and appreciation of military service men, women and their families for Armed Forces Day.
