Indians manager Terry Francona out with stomach issues for series at Cincinnati
Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona won't be with the club when it plays a pair of games against state rivals the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.
Mandy Bell of the official MLB website reported that Francona missed Sunday's game versus the Minnesota Twins because of non-specific stomach issues. He underwent an examination at Cleveland Clinic on Monday afternoon.
Francona's status for Wednesday's home game against the Reds is unknown.
The 61-year-old manager won World Series rings in 2004 and 2007 with the Boston Red Sox, and he guided the Indians to the 2016 Fall Classic that Cleveland lost to the Chicago White Sox.
He won Amerian League Manager of the Year in 2013 and 2016.
