Indians send Zach Plesac home after leaving hotel to go out in Chicago

Zach Plesac blatantly violated Major League Baseball's health and safety protocols, and now he's paying the price.

The Indians sent the young right-hander back to Cleveland on Sunday after he violated coronavirus-related protocols while in Chicago, according to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Plesac, 25, went out with friends in Chicago on Saturday following the team's win against the White Sox. The Indians got him a car back to Cleveland so he wouldn't be on the team plane with teammates and staff in case he contracted the coronavirus.

Plesac has since apologized for the incident in a team statement, and there's no word on if he's been tested since he broke the code of conduct. He now will be isolated from the team and unable to participate in activities until he tests negative twice.

In the wake of the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals coronavirus outbreaks, the league has been encouraging players to be more responsible when it comes to activities while away from their teams.
