The Boston Red Sox need some serious help in the starting lineup if the club wants to turn things around in 2024.

The starting rotation was Boston's biggest weakness in 2023 and with Opening Day right around the corner, it seems like the club may be in a comparable spot.

Boston signed Lucas Giolito in free agency but he will miss the season due to an elbow injury. The Red Sox traded Chris Sale away to the Atlanta Braves for intriguing infielder Vaughn Grissom.

The Red Sox clearly have some work to do and have been linked to a handful of hurlers, but it doesn't sound like the team will be making any more significant additions, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"I wish I could tell you something on the Red Sox," Heyman said. "All I'm hearing now is they're not going to do much. They didn't even look at (Blake Snell) after they lost Giolito so I'm going to assume at this point unless something falls into their lap they will not do anything."

Boston continuously has been linked to Texas Rangers postseason star Jordan Montgomery and a move almost makes too much sense, but it sounds like he will cost too much for the Red Sox.

There are other mid-tier options out there like Michael Lorenzen and Noah Syndergaard but it's unclear what Boston's plan is. It wouldn't be shocking for the club to roll into Opening Day with the roster as it currently is without another addition.
