The White Sox third baseman left the yard in the 4th and 8th innings of Saturday’s ballgame.

Jake Burger is swinging a hot bat down in Arizona. The White Sox third baseman left the yard twice during Cactus League action against the San Diego Padres on Saturday.

Entering Saturday’s ballgame the 26-year-old slugger was slashing .240/.240/.480 this spring with two home runs in 25 plate appearances. By the end of the day, Burger raised that line to .276/.300/.690.

The first of his two long balls was of the opposite field variety. Burger took Padres starter Blake Snell deep in the top of the fourth inning with an opposite-field two-run homer.

Burger went yard again in the top of the eighth inning off of Padres reliever Ryan Weathers. Unlike his opposite-field homer in the fourth Burger went to straightaway center field, crushing one off the top of the batter's eye. The home run was his team-leading fourth of the spring.

Three of Burger's spring home runs have come against the San Diego Padres. His first of the year came back on February 25, when the two clubs met to open Cactus League play.
