Jeff McNeil was one of the key factors in the New York Mets‘ return to prominence in 2022.

New York won 101 games and returned to the postseason as a Wild Card team.

But McNeil himself had a pretty solid season, hitting .326 with nine home runs and 62 RBI during the regular season, while also racking up 39 doubles.

That was enough to earn him the Batting Title, which made him the first Mets player to take home the Batting Title since Jose Reyes did it in 2011.

But that won’t be the only special honor that McNeil gets to take home this offseason.

The Silver Slugger Awards for each league were announced yesterday, and McNeil was the lucky winner for National League second basemen.

The Mets took to Twitter to congratulate McNeil on his accomplishment.

This is McNeil’s first Silver Slugger Award.

McNeil’s consistency at the plate was a difference-maker for the Mets in 2022, as he helped guide them into the top in all of baseball in runs scored.

New York finished tied with the St. Louis Cardinals for the fifth-most runs scored in all of baseball and third most in the National League with 772.

The Mets also had the second-highest batting average as a team behind just the Toronto Blue Jays.

But McNeil stands alone as the Silver Slugger Award winner at second base.

McNeil joins Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Josh Bell, Brandon Drury, Mookie Betts, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, and Juan Soto on the list of NL players to win Silver Slugger Awards.
