The Milwaukee Brewers traded four-time All-Star closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres. In return, the Brewers received Taylor Rogers, Robert Gasser, Esteury Ruiz and Dinelson Lamet.

After Brewers’ beat reporters landed in Pittsburgh for the Brewers’ three-game series there, they shared Hader’s comments on being traded.

Todd Rosiak, who covers the Brewers for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, shared the following tweet after speaking with Hader:

Bally Sports’ Sophia Minnaert shared a more complete response from Josh Hader. Here is what the four-time All-Star said:

“I would say more overwhelmed just on the sense of logistics wise but I mean, I had an idea that, every year the rumors happen and I know that in a business side of things, this would be the best position and value leading into a trade just because you have a year and a half left of control for a team and the business side of things. So obviously wasn’t expecting it fully, but I knew it was a greater chance than years previous and, you know, it sucks to leave Milwaukee and everybody here and all the relationships I’ve built over the years and just obviously started my career off here and the opportunities that have gone with that.”

Hader ends his Brewers career with a record of 17-17 and 125 saves, the second-most in franchise history. he also ranks seventh in team history in games finished (155). Hader also ends his career in Milwaukee with a 2.48 ERA and 15.4 strikeouts per nine innings.
