A significant step was taken this week in the domestic violence case involving former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias.

Urias was arrested on Sept. 3 on suspicion of felony domestic violence. Law enforcement authorities have been investigating the incident since, and that investigation concluded on Tuesday. According to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez, Urias’ case has been turned over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The DA will now determine whether Urias will be criminally charged.

Urias has been on paid administrative leave since his arrest. He is no longer under contract with the Dodgers, as 2023 was his final year of salary arbitration.

Urias was arrested after allegedly getting physical with a woman outside BMO Stadium in Los Angeles following the Sept. 3 soccer match between LAFC vs. Inter Miami. The report from the incident stated that he shoved a woman into a fence during an argument.

Urias, 27, was also arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery in May 2019. He faced allegations of shoving a woman he was with at a mall in Beverly Hills. The woman later told investigators she fell, and the charges were dropped. Urias was still suspended 20 games by Major League Baseball under the league’s domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.
