Justin Turner on Albert Pujols hitting 700th home run vs. Dodgers: 'It was weird but awesome'
Albert Pujols entered the 700-home run club in late September during a two-dinger performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers. One longtime member of the Dodgers who was in the opposite dugout from the St. Louis Cardinals legend opened up recently about what it was like to experience history in his team's eventual 11-0 defeat that night.
Pujols and Turner were briefly teammates when "The Machine" signed with Los Angeles last May. In 85 regular-season games with the Dodgers in 2021, Pujols posted 12 home runs and 38 RBI, while slashing .254/.299/.460.
The three-time NL MVP rejoined St. Louis in March for his farewell season in 2022 and has been scorching hot for much of the second half of the campaign. Overall, in 305 at-bats covering 108 games this year, Pujols has recorded 24 home runs, 66 RBI and a .269/.344/.551 slash line.
Both Pujols' Cardinals and Turner's Dodgers will be playing in the postseason, as champions of the NL Central and NL West ,respectively.
