Keston Hiura Homers for Second Straight Day in Brewers 8-3 Loss to Cardinals

Baseball is such a fickle game. Going into Friday night, the Brewers had won three games in a row. Now, they have dropped to straight games to the St. Louis Cardinals. Brandon Woodruff had to exit yesterday’s game due to an ankle injury and Luis Perdomo was placed on the IL earlier on Saturday. To add insult to injury, Adrian Houser gave up eight runs (five earned) in just four innings against the Cardinals. On the flipside, Cardinals’ starter Matt Liberatore shutout the Brewers through five innings. He had given up four runs in less than five innings in his first start of the season against the Pirates. In other words, things went from bad to worse.

At Least the Brewers Bullpen Was Good

If we’re looking for silver lining, the Brewers bullpen shutout the Cardinals in five innings on Saturday. Hoby Milner threw one shutout inning while allowing just a single hit. Trevor Kelley, too, threw a shutout inning pitching around two Cardinals hits. Finally, Miguel Sanchez threw two shutout innings. He allowed no hits and struck out two.

Keston Hiura Goes Yard (Again)

The Milwaukee Brewers have not had the best of luck on the injury front. As a result, Keston Hiura has been put in the lineup against right-handed pitching two days in a row. This is actually a good thing, as Hiura has better splits against righties than he does lefties. He showed his prowess against righties again today with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
