Team USA has gained yet another starting pitcher.
Colorado Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland announced this afternoon that he will be participating in the World Baseball Classic in the spring of 2023.
The Classic was originally set to take place in 2021, but was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2023, this legendary event will make its return.
Freeland joins his former Rockies teammate in St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado.
On Twitter, MLB posted a cool graphic to announce the news of Freeland committing to Team USA, featuring the left-hander and the slogan for the team that reads, “All In.”

The 29-year-old won nine games during the regular season and posted a 4.53 ERA in 31 starts and 174.2 innings of work.
The Denver native has a career ERA of 4.27.
Freeland made his debut with the Rockies in 2017.
He now joins Adam Wainwright, Merrill Kelly, and Nestor Cortes as the fourth starting pitcher to commit to Team USA.
Kansas City Royals right-hander Brady Singer also committed, pushing the total of starters up to five.
Team USA already features some solid stars on the offensive side as well, including Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Kyle Tucker, Pete Alonso, Trea Turner, and others.
Freeland is the first member of the Rockies to commit.
Other pitchers on the roster include David Bednar, Dillon Tate, and Devin Williams.
Team USA will be managed by former MLB star Mark DeRosa.
The Classic will begin in March as players from across the globe come together to represent their respective countries.
