The Phillies may have missed out on the playoffs but every cloud has a silver lining. After being acquired at the MLB trade deadline, Kyle Gibson went on to have a pretty solid close to his first season in Philadelphia. Away from the field, he made an even bigger impact.
Through the #ALLWIN campaign, Kyle Gibson, VP of nonprofit Big League Impact, helped fans raise A total of $12,892. The foundation’s goal is to fight poverty, and Gibson and his wife chose two Philadelphia-based charities to donate to.
Throughout the course of the year, Gibson pledged a donation to Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia for every regular-season win. For every strikeout he recorded as a member of the Phillies, he donated to Philabundance.
“The #ALLWIN campaign is based on the belief that when we’re all in, we all win. That we each give what we’re able, and together we can make a greater impact for the greater good,” Gibson said via a press release. “I’m truly humbled by the support Phillies fans have already shown for me, my family and the work we’re doing with Big League Impact. This money is going to do great things for people in need right here in Philadelphia. I’m excited to see what else we can do together next season!”
