The only thing guaranteed in life is death, taxes, and now Kyle Schwarber hitting a leadoff home run! The Washington Nationals slugger hit his fourth leadoff home run of this season… In just his 10th start at leadoff hitter. It’s his second straight game leading off with a home run.

Sunday’s victim was Mets starter Taijuan Walker. The ball traveled 418 feet into left field.

His four leadoff homers are already tied for second-most in a season with Trea Turner, the guy he replaced this season.

Since being inserted at leadoff on June 8, Schwarber has seven home runs and 14 RBIs in all. The Nationals were looking for someone to bump Turner and his .313 batting average down at least one spot.

Instead of getting on base for Turner and the power hitting Juan Soto to advance him on the bases, the bombs hitting Schwarber is doing all the work on his own with a swing of the bat.

He leads the Nationals this season with 15 home runs and 38 RBIs in all.
