Dodgers fans can’t help but feel like they were cheated out of multiple World Series titles after the Houston Astros were caught cheating and while the Boston Red Sox are facing similar allegations. As a result, the city of Los Angeles is working tirelessly to make its residents feel better.

The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve a resolution that urges Major League Baseball to award the 2017 and 2018 World Series trophies to the Dodgers, the runners-up both years.

What does this mean? Absolutely nothing, of course. The L.A. City Council has no power over MLB, and MLB is not stripping the Astros or the Red Sox of their World Series titles.

You can understand why the Dodgers are bothered by what happened with the Astros and possibly the Red Sox, and some star players have sounded off about it. Yu Darvish may have the biggest beef of anyone involved, but MLB commissioner Rob Manfred can’t just start stripping teams of championships. If it is determined down the road that other teams engaged in similar practices to those used by Houston, where does that end?

Unfortunately, the Dodgers are just going to have to suck it up. The L.A. City Council should probably focus on more important issues in the meantime.
