The Los Angeles Dodgers made a signing on Tuesday that, although it'll likely fly under the radar nationally, is one that could prove dividends this season.

The Dodgers signed outfielder David Dahl to a minor league contract this week, per Alex Freedman of the Oklahoma City Dodgers, LA's Triple-A affiliate.

Dahl, 29, was released by the San Diego Padres after spending most of his time with the organization in Triple-A El Paso, where he slashed .265/.342/.382 with one home run and 10 RBI in 17 games.

Dahl's most notable run in the majors was when he played with the Colorado Rockies from 2016-2020, hitting .286/.334/.494 with 38 bombs and 142 RBI over the course of four seasons, including making the All Star Game in 2019.

Now he'll attempt to revitalize his career in the Dodgers organization, and as of right now, the veteran will provide solid depth in the organization's outfield.

If he has a significant stretch in Oklahoma City though, he may at some point find himself in Los Angeles and could be a good bat off the bench if needed down the stretch.

His new MLB parent club is trying to climb back up to the top of the NL West, as the LA Dodgers are three and a half games back after defeating the Angels on Tuesday night.

A key theme of the Dodgers this year has been a youth movement, with players like James Outman, Jonny DeLuca, Miguel Vargas, Bobby Miller, and Emmet Sheehan most recently having to make impacts.

Dahl may be an exception to that trend, but he'll have an opportunity to make his own climb back up to the bigs throughout 2023.
