Per the Pittsburgh Pirates, LHP Jose Hernandez will begin his rehab assignment Tuesday night for the Indianapolis Indians.

Hernandez has been on the 15 day IL since June 18 with a right-calf strain.

Prior to his injury, Hernandez proved to be a vital part of the bullpen and was even thrown out in several key situations for the Pirates.

With the Pirates having some depth issues all over, it will be nice to add another lefty to the pen, especially one who has proven to be reliable this season.

Hernandez on the season has posted an ERA of 2.63 in 26 appearances (27.1 IP). In addition, Hernandez posted nine straight scoreless appearances from May 17-June 14.

It is unclear how long Hernandez will stay in Indianapolis, but we will let you know when the news comes to light.
