Don't go straight to the box score if you didn't have a chance to watch Tuesday night's game. Logan Allen may have given up four runs (three earned) on seven hits as the Cleveland Guardians dropped game two to the Chicago White Sox, but that line isn't an accurate representation of how he pitched.

The lefty flew through the first three innings of the game without allowing a base runner and didn't allow a hit until Luis Robert Jr. got a base knock. Prior to the disaster, Allen only allowed one run which came from a Yasmani Grandal solo shot.

However, all of that work came crumbling to the ground as Allen unwound in the eighth inning. He allowed three runs to cross the plate. Only two of these were earned because of a rare Jose Ramirez error.

Allen exited the game after throwing 85 pitches. It was pretty clear that he was overthrowing the ball toward the end and lost the command that makes him such a special pitcher so far in his young career.

Hindsight is 20/20, but Allen was left in the game way too long.

This was only made more apparent when Enyel De Los Santos immediately came into a jam with runners at second and third and got out of it without allowing another run. This was probably the best relief outing by a Guardian this season.

Allen to a big step as a rookie on Tuesday. This was his first time pitching against a team who has seen him before. This can sometimes be a wake-up call for rookies as hitters have seen their pitche mix before.

However, this was no issue for the lefty as he still fanned four and only walked one.

Allen may have been credited with the loss in this one, but there's no reason to reason to be concerned with him based on what the numbers show. If anything, the numbers point to an offense that wasn't able to give their starting pitcher enough run support.
