Look of the Day for Monday 4/8: For heaven's sakes, we like the Snakes

We closed out last week with a Look of the Day winner on Billy Horschel to beat Collin Morikawa in the second round of the Valero Texas Open, and we're looking to keep the momentum rolling. With no NBA on the schedule, let's hop over to MLB and target our favorite bet for Monday's slate. 

Look of the Day: Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 (-120 FanDuel)

This is about as lopsided as you can get in terms of pitching matchups. 

Zac Gallen, who had a career year in 2023 and nearly won the NL Cy Young, is off to a hot start in 2024. The Diamondbacks right-hander is 2-0 with only six hits allowed, one earned run and nine strikeouts in 11 innings of work. Arizona has outscored its opponents, 23-1, in Gallen's two starts this season. 

On the other side, Kyle Freeland has looked helpless on the mound for the Colorado Rockies. The left-hander has given up 19 hits, 17 earned runs and three home runs. Opposing hitters are batting .543 against Freeland this year with a hard-hit rate of 54.8 percent. His xwOBA of .519 is also the highest in MLB to start the year.

We saw this exact matchup earlier in the season, and the Diamondbacks pounded Freeland for 10 runs in only 2.1 innings and went on to win, 16-1. If you're hesitant because of the friendly hitting conditions at Coors Field, there's no need to worry. Gallen has a career ERA of 2.43 at Coors Field, and he's surrendered only two home runs in 37 innings.
