With Lourdes Gurriel Jr. joining the National League team in a few weeks, the Arizona Diamondbacks will have three players heading to Seattle for the 2023 All-Star game.

All three players selected from the Diamondbacks are All-Stars for the first time in their careers.

But none of them are a bigger surprise than Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

In a trade that involved sending Dalton Varsho to the Blue Jays, the Diamondbacks may have won the offseason with the addition of Gurriel.

The 29-year-old outfielder has exceeded all expectations thus far in 2023.

While he has seen his batting average slip down to .269 due to a recent slump, Gurriel Jr. was once at the top of the National League in just about every category.

In May, Gurriel Jr. was named player of the month after he ended the month with 32 hits, 8 home runs, 18 RBIs, and 18 runs scored.

Nevertheless, the Diamondbacks outfielder is still well on his way to breaking most of his past season records.

You can watch Lourdes Gurriel Jr. compete on Tuesday, July 16th, in his first ever All-Star game alongside teammates Corbin Carroll and Zac Gallen.
