Prior to their upcoming series with the Mets, the Braves made a number of roster moves, including recalling Roddery Muñoz to Atlanta and outrighting Lucas Luetge to Triple-A Gwinnett, the club announced.

The 36-year-old Luetge was designated for assignment over the weekend, but it seems he’ll remain in the organization without occupying a spot on the 40-man roster. He joined Atlanta over the offseason in a trade that sent a pair of prospects to the Yankees after being somewhat surprisingly DFA by New York.

The veteran’s Braves career hasn’t gone how either side imagined, logging just 9.2 innings and surrendering 11 runs on 15 hits and six talks. After punching out a quarter of the batters faced against a 5.8% walk rate across two seasons with the Bronx Bombers, the southpaw has regressed severely.

In his defense, Luetge has spent more than a month on the injured list with a left bicep injury, so it’s possible that has hindered his performance. Regardless, now he’ll have time to hone his craft with the Stripers in hopes of getting another shot at the major league level.

As for Munoz, the stage is set for the 23-year-old reliever’s big league debut. He’s outside of the club’s top 20 prospects on Baseball America and MLB.com, so there are not exactly high expectations for the 6’2″ righty out of the Dominican Republic.

Between Double-A and Triple-A in 2023, he’s worked to a combined 4.94 ERA across 27.1 frames, walking 20 to only 24 punchouts. However, as of late, he’s been on fire. Munoz has allowed just one run and fanned 14 over his last 11 innings. The command could still use some work, though.

Additionally, Michael Tonkin begins a rehabilitation assignment with the Stripers.
