Well, that’s not fun for Blue Jays fans.

On Wednesday evening, the Texas Rangers won their first World Series in their 63rd year of existence, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game Five, winning the series 4-1.

Marcus Semien is the only former Blue Jay on the Texas roster. On Wednesday, he hit the biggest home run of his life as he went deep in the top of the ninth to make it a 5-0 lead for Texas. He didn’t have the greatest postseason as he slashed .224/.280/.355 in 82 plate appearances, but that homer was massive for the 2021 Blue Jay.

On the other hand, there were three former Blue Jays on the Diamondbacks’ roster. Miguel Castro was the only pitcher on the roster, and he posted a 10.50 ERA and 6.59 FIP in six innings pitched. Long-time Blue Jay Lourdes Gurriel Jr., as well as top prospect Gabriel Moreno were traded to the Diamondbacks on December 23, 2022.

Gurriel Jr. had a fine postseason, slashing .273/.290/.455 with three homers in 70 plate appearances. However, Gabriel Moreno was the breakout player of the playoffs, slashing .238/.304/.444 with four homers in 70 plate appearances.

No longer will Texas fans be talking about the punch to make Blue Jays fans upset, as they’ve finally managed to win a World Series after 63 years. Congratulations to Texas, as well as Marcus Semien, and it was a hell of a postseason for the Arizona Diamondbacks who squeaked into the playoffs with an 84-78 record.

On Monday, November 6, teams will be allowed to make transactions, so we can’t wait for that to happen!
