Marcus Stroman to pitch Tuesday after rain-delay fiasco

New York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman understandably vented frustrations via Twitter after Sunday's home appearance versus the Miami Marlins lasted only nine pitches due to a rain-delay debacle that should've been avoided in the first place.

Some wondered if the Mets would push Stroman's next start in the rotation up, potentially to Wednesday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies. However, manager Luis Rojas originally confirmed on Monday that Stroman wouldn't take the bump again until Friday's game at the Colorado Rockies:

That all changed, though, after the Mets had Monday's showdown with the Phillies rained out. Rojas later updated that Stroman will be back in action Tuesday at Citi Field against Philadelphia:

The Mets have had a total of five of a potential 10 games rescheduled this month. Their opening series at the Washington Nationals was postponed due to COVID-19 issues impacting Washington.

Sunday's Marlins-Mets matchup was suspended and will continue as part of a day-night doubleheader on Aug. 31.

"That's how Stro is, is outspoken. He's open, talking and he says what he feels," Rojas told reporters on Sunday, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). "He did not share anything this morning. He gets ready. He was doing his routine. He was just waiting for the communication, whether we were going to start on time or not."

Home teams determine whether or not to start games during inclement weather.
