The Seattle Mariners are preparing to take on the Los Angeles Angels in a four-game series this weekend.
This will be the first time these two teams have met since their epic brawl on June 26, when Raisel Iglesias threw a bucket of sunflower seeds onto the field and Jesse Winker flipped the double bird to Angels fans.
Since then, the Mariners have been energized and the Angels have gone south.
The Angels will also be without several pieces of their team, with them being either injured or traded away prior to the trade deadline.
Needless to say, the Angels are quite depleted, and one Mariners insider points out the reasons why the Mariners should be able to take it right to the Halos this weekend.
Mariners Run Into Halos At The Right Time
With Shohei Ohtani not pitching and Mike Trout on the injured list, it’s looking like the Mariners will have it relatively easy when taking on the Angels.
Ohtani has been the only pitcher who has done much of anything for the Halos this season.
Noah Syndergaard is now a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, as is Brandon Marsh.
Iglesias is now in Atlanta too.
Meanwhile, the Mariners acquired Luis Castillo from the Cincinnati Reds and appear to be going for it.
They’ll also have Robbie Ray pitching the series opener and they’ll be at home.
The Angels are coming into this series quite banged up, while the Mariners seem to be rejuvenated, so it looks like it’s going to be a big series for Seattle.
The Mariners were below .500 the day of the brawl, but have trended upwards since.
You can’t say the same about the Angels.
