One Los Angeles Dodgers star sounds willing to swallow his pride and recruit a player who just eliminated his team last postseason.
Two-time All-Star Max Muncy spoke recently with AM 570’s “Dodger Talk” with David Vassegh and made it seem like he was recruiting Atlanta Braves free-agent slugger Freddie Freeman.
“I think it [would be] awesome,” said Muncy of potentially signing Freeman, per Sports Illustrated. “Imagine how dangerous we’d be if we get him in that lineup. It makes me really excited. Yeah, maybe it’s not as much first base [for me]. But that’s OK because I think I’ve said several times I enjoy playing second base more.”
It is easy to see the fit with Freeman in Los Angeles. He is the top lefty bat on the market and would help fill the void left by Corey Seager signing with the Texas Rangers. The universal designated hitter is also reportedly part of the newly agreed-upon MLB CBA, giving the Dodgers more versatility to get a player like Freeman into the lineup without sacrificing depth elsewhere.
Freeman has been a lifelong Brave, but winning the World Series with them last season only seemed to increase the odds of him leaving. That said, the Dodgers face competition for his services from other powerhouse teams.
