New York Mets manager Buck Showalter Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

New York Mets manager Buck Showalter has been tossed from another game with this most recent one coming on Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the eighth inning, the Mets trailed the Brewers by a run.  Milwaukee mounted a two-out rally as Brian Anderson doubled and Blake Perkins drew a walk.  This brought up rookie Joey Wiemer. Wiemer was down 1-0 in the count when he was struck in the knuckles by a pitch.  Depending upon who you ask, he may have swung the bat.

After discussion the umpires deemed that Wiemer did not swing and he was granted first base.  This loaded the bases for Christian Yelich.  He ended up singling to score two runs and extend the Brewers lead to three.  Following Yelich’s hit, Showalter stormed the field and started arguing with first base umpire Ron Kulpa before he was ejected.

As mentioned above, the umpire’s decision to grant Wiemer first base ended up a game-changing moment.  It was a big call to go against the Mets and Showalter’s decision to argue about it was likely a build up of emotion and stress surrounding how his team has failed to live up to expectations this year.

Over the past four days, Showalter has now been ejected twice and his season total is up to three.

The Brewers and Mets will play the final game of their four-game series on Thursday night.  Milwaukee is already guaranteed at worst a series split.  This means that the New York Mets will have gone all of June without winning a series.
