Mets acquire 1B/DH Daniel Vogelbach from Pirates for reliever Colin Holderman
The National League East-leading New York Mets have added a power bat to add to their lineup.
According to MLB Network's Jon Heyman, the Mets have acquired 1B/DH Daniel Vogelbach in exchange for right-handed reliever Colin Holderman.
Heyman added that despite the acquisition of Vogelbach, the Mets are "still open" to adding more offense ahead of the August 2 deadline.
Earlier this week, Michael Mayer of Metsmerized reported that the Mets and Pirates were in discussions surrounding a deal for Vogelbach.
Vogelbach has batted .228/.338/.430 with 12 home runs and 34 RBI in 75 games for the Pirates this season.
The 29-year-old ended the first half of the season on a bit of a cold streak. Over Vogelbach's last nine games, he's batting .115/.343/.231 with a home run, six RBI and nine walks.
Holderman heads to Pittsburgh in the deal. Originally a ninth-round pick by the Mets in 2016, Holderman made his major league debut this season. In 15 appearances, Holderman posted a 4-0 record with a 2.04 ERA in 17.2 innings.
