Reinforcements have arrived.

On Tuesday, the New York Mets added reliever Trevor Gott and outfielder D.J. Stewart to the 26-man roster ahead of their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Jeff Brigham and Danny Mendick have been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Denyi Reyes has been designated for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster.

The Mets acquired Gott on Monday in a trade with the Seattle Mariners, in which they also landed right-hander Chris Flexen. However, the Mets designated Flexen for assignment, thus eating the rest of his $8 million salary. By doing so, they only had to give up Zach Muckenhirn in the deal.

Gott has a 4.03 ERA across 29 innings this season. The righty will help stabilize the Mets' bullpen in middle relief, which is an area this unit has struggled in.

Gott is a journeymen, as the Mets are his sixth team in eight seasons. During this span, he has posted a career 4.70 ERA.

As for Stewart, he was having a more than solid season for Syracuse. In 188 at-bats, Stewart had a .362 on-base percentage, .878 OPS, 16 home runs and 41 RBIs.

The 29-year-old will provide another left-handed bat off the bench, who has some pop. He will also enhance their outfield depth as well.

Stewart played for manager Buck Showalter in Baltimore in 2018.
