Could a reunion be on the horizon in New York?

The New York Mets have had an interesting offseason and are still looking to make another move or two. New York already is better on paper but bolstering the bullpen with at least one other high-leverage reliever is a necessity.

One player who could be a reunion candidate is former Mets reliever Adam Ottavino, according to SNY's Andy Martino.

"Adam Ottavino, who declined a $6.75 million option with the Mets for 2024, is a possibility to return to the Mets on a new contract," Martino said. "Essentially, the Mets have spoken to the representatives of just about every available reliever, and still have money to spend in that area, if they see a fit."

Ottavino is a 13-year big league veteran and has a career 3.42 ERA in 664 total appearances with the St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Mets.

The veteran righty joined the Mets ahead of the 2022 campaign and has impressed ever since. Ottavino logged a 2.06 ERA in 66 appearances with New York in 2022 while compiling a 79-to-16 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

He followed it up with a 3.21 ERA in 2023 across 66 outings for the Mets. He had a 62-to-29 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 61 2/3 innings pitched.

New York needs to improve the bullpen and bringing Ottavino back into the fold could be a very solid move. He has shown that he can shine with the Mets and would be an easy option.
