The New York Mets may be spamming the same play this offseason.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported on Sunday that the Mets are pursuing lefty relievers in free agency. Heyman adds that one such reliever the Mets are pursuing is Wandy Peralta.

The 32-year-old Peralta spent the last three seasons with the rival New York Yankees. He posted an excellent 2.82 ERA over that span and was also relied upon by the Yankees for heavy work during their 2022 ALCS run.

For the Mets, bringing in former Yankees has been the story of their winter. They hired ex-Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza as their new manager and then signed a former Yankees All-Star pitcher to a one-year deal. The Mets also had interest in longtime Yankees fire-baller Aroldis Chapman (before Chapman signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates) and even recently added a starting outfielder last season for the Yankees. Now the eight-season MLB veteran Peralta might be next up on deck.
