Mets GM Zack Scott: 'Best-case scenario' for Carlos Carrasco's return is early June

Carlos Carrasco was recently placed on the 60-day injured list with a torn right hamstring.

The New York Mets were hoping the right-hander wouldn't be sidelined for longer than six-to-eight weeks, but now general manager Zack Scott says the "best-case scenario" for the Venezuelan's return is early June.

Via SNY:

Carrasco has been pitching in simulated games at the Mets' spring training facility and must prove he's ready to go before taking the field again.

The 34-year-old was the second piece the Mets received from the Cleveland Indians in the Francisco Lindor trade. He went 88-73 with a 3.77 ERA over 11 years in Cleveland, but health problems have limited him to just 24 starts over the past four seasons.

The Mets have relied on Jacob deGrom, Marcus Stroman, Taijuan Walker, David Peterson and Joey Lucchesi on the mound this season. Entering play Saturday, New York was second in the NL East with a 14-13 record.
