Mets' Jacob deGrom had UCL sprain; injury has healed
New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom hasn't pitched since before the All-Star break in July because of what the club has repeatedly said is right elbow inflammation.
Per the official MLB website, Mets team president Sandy Alderson offered additional information on deGrom's latest setback ahead of Tuesday's game at the Miami Marlins.
Alderson told reporters that deGrom was dealing with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow that is now healed. Alderson added deGrom's ligament is "perfectly intact, based on the MRIs and our clinical evaluations through our doctors" and that the so-called sprain was "a very low-grade thing that has resolved itself."

The Mets haven't yet shut deGrom down through at least the end of the regular season, and acting general manager Zack Scott suggested late last month that the right-hander could make at least one start if he's cleared at any point after his stay on the 60-day injured list expires on Monday.
New York began Tuesday at 69-69 and four games back of the first-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East division standings.
