Mets' Jeff McNeil avoids injured list after scary wall crash

Following an 8-2 win over the division-rival Washington Nationals, the New York Mets revealed rare good news regarding an injured player.

As noted by ESPN, New York manager Luis Rojas told reporters that X-rays and an MRI on McNeil's left knee came back negative.

The 28-year-old was diagnosed with a bone bruise and is listed as day-to-day.

McNeil suffered the setback in the first inning of Thursday's contest when he risked his body to complete a catch and save a pair of runs as he crashed into the wall.

McNeil was able to walk onto the cart that assisted him off the field. Billy Hamilton replaced McNeil in the lineup and reached base via a walk and a single.

In 18 games, McNeil is hitting .293 with seven RBI, four doubles and a .720 OPS
