Mets-Nationals series postponed, NY will open season vs. Phillies

The New York Mets' Opening Day game against the Nationals on Thursday was postponed because of coronavirus concerns after at least three Washington players tested positive for COVID-19.

The Mets and Nationals were supposed to play on Saturday and Sunday, but now both sides won't meet at all, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. The Mets will open the season on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Jacob deGrom will likely get the start for New York, as he was originally scheduled to pitch Opening Day on Thursday.

The Mets have a promising season ahead after acquiring Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco from the Cleveland Indians and signing free-agent catcher James McCann.

The Mets and Phillies last met on September 17, 2020. New York won 10-6.
