Mets pitcher Tylor Megill exits start with right shoulder injury

The New York Mets' bad injury luck among the pitching staff continued Thursday when Tylor Megill exited in the fourth inning of a game against the Milwaukee Brewers with what the team called right shoulder discomfort.

Megill, 26, missed close to a month earlier this season due to right biceps tendinitis. After a stint on the injured list, Megill made his return to the starting rotation last week when he threw 64 pitches in 3.1 innings against the Los Angeles Angels. His start Thursday was his second game back from the IL.

With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning, Megill threw a 93 mile per hour pitch past the Brewers' Omar Narváez. He called for the trainers to come out of the dugout and was replaced on the mound by Chasen Shreve.

New York is currently without its top two pitchers, Jacob DeGrom and Max Scherzer, due to injuries. DeGrom hasn't pitched this season due to a scapula fracture suffered in spring training and the Mets are reportedly targeting a July return. Scherzer reportedly hopes to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday.

Megill entered Thursday with a 4-2 record this season and a 4.50 ERA.
