After winning two games in their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets have won three of their last four games. On Monday, they will begin a series against the Chicago White Sox and look to continue to build off their momentum.
With a 32-21 record, the Mets have the second-best record in the NL East and are just two games behind the Philadelphia Phillies, who have the best record in the MLB. New York is in a great spot nearly two months into the season, but there is still a lot of baseball left. Fortunately for them, they received some exciting news on Monday that could give them a boost.
Despite the Mets' overall success so far this season, they have dealt with a handful of injuries. This includes outfielder Jose Siri, who suffered a tibia injury in just the 10th game of his Mets tenure.
Siri has not played for New York since April 12 and still does not have a concrete timetable for his return. However, it looks like the 29-year-old is progressing towards his return as he was seen running on the field ahead of the team's game on Monday.
"Jose Siri is running in the outfield today at Citi Field," SNY Mets wrote on X.
Siri struggled greatly to begin the season. In 10 games, the Dominican Republic native was just 1-for-20 at the plate and recorded just one RBI. However, his return would be big for the Mets as they aim to get as healthy as possible and remain near the top of the standings the rest of the way.
