It is evident that the New York Mets have shifted their focus to adding relief pitching, as they have checked in on just about every top arm on the market it seems.

Well, add one more name to the list.

According to MLB insider Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Mets have shown interest in former Houston Astros reliever Ryne Stanek.

Stanek, 32, was one of the Astros' best bullpen pieces from 2021-2023, posting a 2.90 ERA in 186 appearances.

The righty had a bit of a down year in 2023, producing a 4.09 ERA in 55 appearances, but shined in 2022 as one of the best relievers in the league with a 1.15 ERA in 59 outings. Stanek helped the Astros capture a World Series title in 2022.

Stanek would be a strong addition to a Mets' bullpen that needs help behind elite closer Edwin Diaz, who is returning from injury.

In addition to Stanek, the Mets have shown interest in lefty Wandy Peralta and hard-throwing righty Hector Neris, as well as a potential reunion with Adam Ottavino.

As SNY insider Andy Martino reported, the Mets are looking to spend around $10 million to round out their offseason. Although they have needs on offense, it appears that they are prioritizing bullpen help to assist Diaz.
