The Miami Marlins lost to the Washington Nationals on Saturday by a score of 3-2. It was another tough loss for Miami, who fell to 65-65 on the season. They have dropped eight of their last 10 games and have fallen to 3.0 games back of the third and final wild card spot in the National League.

Despite the loss, the Fish got a great performance from young pitcher Eury Perez. The 20-year-old went 6.0 innings, surrendering three hits and one unearned run. He walked one and struck out seven, lowering his season ERA to 2.68.

Perez also made history, per @MLBStats on social media:

Eury Pérez is only the fourth pitcher at his age or younger (20 years, 133 days) to have multiple starts with 6+ IP, 2 or fewer hits and 0 ER in a single season since earned runs became official.

Perez is 5-4 this year and has struck out 90 batters in 74.1 major league innings. It's been a great first taste of the big leagues for him, who should be a staple of the Marlins rotation for years to come. He also pairs with Sandy Alcantara to make a very strong 1-2 punch in a rotation for the future.

The Marlins will take on the Nationals again on Sunday afternoon at loanDepot Park. First pitch is slated for 1:40 p.m. ET.

Trevor Williams (WAS) will pitch against Marlins reliever JT Chargois, who will serve as an opener.

Williams is 6-7 this season while Chargois is 1-0.
