Slugging first baseman Josh Bell got traded to the Miami Marlins at the deadline just over a week ago and has already made team history.

The Marlins beat the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 5-4 as Bell hit two home runs and drove in four runs.

Per the Marlins PR team on social media:

INF Josh Bell became the 1st player in club history to hit a home run from both sides of the plate in a game.

Bell homered as a left-handed batter in the 4th inning, and then as a right-handed batter in the 8th inning.

His first home run came off Graham Ashcraft while his second came off Sam Moll. Acquired from the Guardians at the deadline, he's now hitting .241 this season with 14 home runs and 55 RBI.

Lifetime, he's a .260 hitter with 144 home runs. He's in his eighth year in the big leagues with the Pirates, Nationals, Padres, Guardians and Marlins.

It was a critical win for the Marlins, who moved to 60-56 on the season. The Reds fell to 60-57 are now a 0.5 game out of the third and final wild card spot in the National League. The Marlins are tied with the Cubs for that spot.

The Marlins will be off on Thursday before hosting the New York Yankees on Friday night in a battle of playoff hopefuls.

The Marlins will be pitching Jesus Luzardo in that series opener. He's 8-6 with a 3.52 ERA while the Yankees don't have a starter listed yet.
