The Pittsburgh Pirates have had some fun these past couple of days.

On Wednesday, star outfielder Bryan Reynolds popped three home runs against the Washington Nationals as the Bucs pulled off an 8-7 win on the road.

Last night, they returned home to PNC Park to take on their NL Central rivals, the Milwaukee Brewers.

They picked up another 8-7 win that included another three-home run game.

This time, it was catcher Michael Perez.

Perez led the way for the Buccos on Thursday night, just as Reynolds had the previous day.

Stats By STATS tweeted an interesting fact about Perez, that he came into his first at-bat of the night with a mere .129 average.

Perez Makes History

Sometimes, funny things can happen in baseball.

You would not expect a guy like the light-hitting Perez to blast three home runs in a game.

That’s almost unheard of.

And he is still hitting for a less than impressive .169 batting average.

But it does happen from time to time, and Perez got to enjoy the game of his life last night, driving in five of the Pirates’ eight runs against the Brewers.

With Perez’s three homers, the Pirates became the first team in baseball history to have three different players hit three home runs in games in the same month.

It was quite a way to cap off the month of June, especially with two guys doing it in back-to-back games.

Jack Suwinski had three of his own on Father’s Day.

There hasn’t been much fun in Pittsburgh this baseball season, but at least for about a week, they got to see three different players have three-homer games.
