Here at Fastball and FanNation, we're a fan of baseball history. But this might be the most random historical fact that we've written all season.

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs on Monday by a score of 8-6. One of the big blows came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jahmai Jones hit a game-tying double with the bases loaded. That made it 6-6 and the Brewers added two more later.

Regarding the Jones hit, that hit made the random baseball history.

Per OptaSTATS on Twitter:

Jahmai Jones of the @Brewers is the only MLB player in the modern era to hit a game-tying 3-run double (or triple) in his first plate appearance with a team.

The Modern Era extends back to 1901 and it feels shocking that no one has done that before, but alas, here we are.

The 25-year-old Jones has appeared in the majors before, getting 75 career at-bats with the Angels, Orioles and Brewers. He made his major league debut with the Angels in 2020 and played 26 games for the Orioles in 2021. He was drafted by the Angels in the second round of the 2015 draft out of the Georgia high school ranks.

The win was a huge one for the Brewers, who moved to 46-39. They kept pace with the Cincinnati Reds, who also won on Monday. Both teams are tied for first place in the National League Central.

The Cubs are seven games back now after the loss.

The two teams will play again on Tuesday at 4:10 p.m. ET.
