Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters Friday that starting pitcher Wade Miley was "50/50" to be ready by the start of the regular season.

Murphy did not specify what injury the veteran left-hander was dealing with, but he did say he would let the media know in about 10 days. The 37-year-old Miley had not appeared in any of Milwaukee's Spring Training exhibitions thus far.

The Brewers' skipper also added that catcher Gary Sánchez is on track to make his Cactus League debut on March 14.

Sánchez agreed to a deal with the Brewers in early February, but the two sides weren't able to finalize the contract until two weeks later due to health-related renegotiations. A right wrist injury surfaced during the former All-Star's physical exam, and it looks like it will keep him sidelined for another two weeks.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak was among those to share updates from Murphy's media availability.

Miley is entering his 14th MLB season and third with the Brewers. While he hasn't made an All-Star Game since 2012, Miley is 42-24 with a 3.43 ERA and 10.7 WAR over the past six years.

In 2023, Miley went 9-4 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.139 WHIP and 2.5 WAR in 23 starts for Milwaukee.

Sánchez, meanwhile, was busy reviving his career with the San Diego Padres.

The catcher joined the Padres mid-season, and he wound up recording 19 home runs, 46 RBI, a .792 OPS and a 2.5 WAR in just 72 games with the club. Prior to that hot streak, Sánchez was bouncing around in the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants' minor league systems.

Sánchez was once a top prospect and two-time All-Star with the New York Yankees. From 2016 to 2021, he averaged 42 home runs, 103 RBI and a 3.5 WAR per 162 games with an .805 OPS.

In Milwaukee, the 31-year-old Sánchez will back up a 26-year-old All-Star and Silver Slugger in William Contreras.
