The 10-5 Milwaukee Brewers are in the middle of a series against the San Diego Padres. They lost game one last night seven to three. After the three-game series with the Padres. The Brewers will head to St. Louis to face the Cardinals in a divisional battle.

OF – Christian Yelich

The Brewers placed Yelich on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April, 13th with a lower back strain. To date, Yelich has played in 11 games getting 39 at-bats while slashing .333/.422/.744 with a 1.166 OPS on the young season. He has one double, five home runs, and 11 RBIs so far this year.

SS – Owen Miller

The Brewers recalled Miller from the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. In 13 games Miller has 18 hits or far for the Sounds. He has scored seven runs, has three doubles, one triple, four RBIs, and one stolen base. He was slashing .353/.414/.451 with a .865 OPS at Triple-A.

RF – Justin Dirden

The Brewers signed free agent Justin Dirden to a minor league contract today. He was assigned to the Nashville Sounds in Triple-A. Last season he played in Triple-A with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys the affiliate for the Houston Astros. He played in 84 games last year with 39 runs scored, 73 hits, 12 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs, 42 RBIs, 37 walks, 108 strikeouts, and four stolen bases. He slashed .231/.314/.396 with a .710 OPS on the season.

Wrap Up:

The Brewers have gotten off to a hot start this season sitting at the top of the NL Central. The injury to Yelich is alarming as a back strain is one that can linger and for the Brewers let’s hope he heels quick. The Veteran has played a key role in the early season success. Owen Miller has been taking at Triple-A so having the Brewers call him up makes a lot of sense to see how he can slide over to play any infield spot allowing flexibility for the roster as the team tries to cover for Yelich in the meantime. The signing of Dirden could be a sneaky find and I will be watching him with Triple-A to see how it shakes out for the Brewers.
