With a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers won their eighth straight game over the Cardinals. Milwaukee has won all six of their games against the Cardinals this season and their final two matchups of the 2023 regular season. The last time the Cardinals defeated the Brewers was on September 26, 2023, when the Cardinals won 4-1.

The Milwaukee Brewers are not just defeating the Cardinals, they are beating them down. Of this season’s six games half of them have been decided by six runs or more. Milwaukee has also outscored their division rivals 39-12 in their six games this year. This lopsided season series is a microcosm of the direction in which each ball club is going at the moment. The Milwaukee Brewers are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball while the St. Louis Cardinals are one of the worst.

How long will the Milwaukee Brewers win streak last?

Milwaukee Brewers Season Summary

The Brewers(24-15) hold a slim lead in the National League Central at the quarter-pole of the 2024 regular season. Milwaukee has leaned on a strong offense to get off to such a strong start this season. They have scored the fourth-most runs in the league, hit the fifth-most home runs, are sixth in batting average, and fourth in Slugging Percentage.

The Milwaukee Brewers high-powered offense is led by Catcher William Contreras and First Baseman Rhys Hoskins. Contreras is top 10 in the entire league in batting average, RBI, and OPS. Hoskins is top 20 in Major League Baseball in home runs and RBI.

St. Louis Cardinals Season Summary

The Cardinals(15-24) look well on their way to missing out on the MLB Playoffs for the second straight season. They are last in the NL Central and have the sixth-worst winning percentage (.385) in the league. Poor pitching and hitting is what has the Cardinals in such a rough position. St. Louis has scored the second-fewest runs in the league, is last in home runs, and third to last in batting average.

Their pitching is bottom 10 in ERA, strikeouts, home runs surrendered, and opposing batting average. The two most high-profile players have not lived up to it yet this season. First Baseman Paul Goldschmidt is batting a putrid .190 with two home runs and 11 RBI. Third Baseman Nolan Arenado is not faring much better at the dish with only two home runs and 20 RBI so far this season. St. Louis needs better production from their top players if they hope to turn around their rough 2024 season.

Looking Ahead To The Rest Of The Season Series

The Brewers are Cardinals play each other 13 times this season and six of those games are already finished. The St. Louis Cardinals have another chance to defeat the Brewers this afternoon. If they lose again today it would be their ninth consecutive loss, with their next chance not coming until August 20-22 in Milwaukee.
